Ruthless to a fault, James likes nothing more than to get the job done. His records in the Hall of Heroes certainly show this over his many years as a General. He despises failure more than anything else. To him, no cost is too much to pay to get the results required of the mission. Though he takes care to not overtax his resources, a little collateral damage never stopped him from achieving mission objectives. Unfortunately for any civilians in combat zones he’s assigned to, he doesn’t hesitate to order artillery strikes enemy forces hiding in urban zones.

Seeing Daniel “Hephaestus” Hardcraft as a perpetual failure, both of military selection processes and of mental character, James delights in making him doing the most punishing work available. Fortunately for Daniel if no-one else, he’s too stupid to realize that James hates him. Instead he thinks that James actually likes him and he delights in getting the next hard mission from his favorite general. Some have suggested this may be a clever ruse to get under James’s skin, but it is fairly accepted that Daniel is not capable of any actual strategy.

As someone who delights in getting the job done, James is a general who understands that it is sometimes necessary to use all the resources available, legal or otherwise. He maintains strong ties with some less than savory people, content to deal under the table if it gets results. His strike forces are known to use everything but regulation weapons and he’s been investigated time and again by internal affairs.

Yet, at the end of the day, results count in the military. Attempts to get him to clean up his act will always take a backseat as long as he gets the job done. Not that many would dare attempt such a thing. Just avoid being the cause of a mission failure under his command. To say that the punishment would be unpleasant is a bit of an understatement.

At the time of the Sector 3 A.I incident, James was busy enjoying some less than legal female entertainment. Nevertheless, they still managed to ice him before major neural damage was done. Plans to punish him for his little transgression have been put on hold until they defrost him.
